As per the revised process, dispute can be raised if and only if the merchant has claimed the transaction. Users may get an error message “Dispute cannot be raised on unclaimed transaction” until 10 days if the amount is unclaimed by the merchant.
Merchant may claim the transaction any day before 10 days (or more in exceptional circumstances) so the user/admin can check and raise the dispute even before the TAT of 10 days.
Usually the transaction amount (of any mode of transaction ATM/POS/CNP) will be auto-refunded within 10 days. If the amount is not refunded automatically then dispute should be raised on the 11th day of the transaction.
Below are the TAT for dispute to be raised by the user on 11th day if the amount is not refunded automatically:
